Dear Yuletide Author
Oct. 19th, 2015 12:33 pmSo, first off, thank you for writing a story for me!! That right there makes you an awesome person and means I will love the holiday season. So no pressure! Write what moves you and try and have some fun and not stress too much, and it'll all work out.
Second off, some general likes and dislikes, if you want more guidance. I'm a fairly dedicated slash fan, but am not against gen, although het/femslash are hit or miss for me. I'm pretty vanilla, not really into any sexual kinks or the like. If it grows organically out of the story and makes sense for the characters, I can deal, but not just kink for kink's sake. I'm much more of a first time, kissing, and holding hands kind of girl. And let's not forget the true love that comes next. *g*
Generally, I like heartwarming, happy stories. Introspection is more than welcome, but I'm not a big angst fan. Please try to avoid partner betrayal, infidelity, character death and the like. I'm really not happy reading stories like that.
On the other hand, I especially like communication, competence, and sweetness. I tend to be a fairly low conflict/fluffy writer/reader, so cute domestic scenes and other kinds of ficlets are right up my alley. I love AUs, ARs, and crossovers, so feel free to mix and match as you see fit. Have Ken give T.J. a lap dance, bring it on! Bring Singin' in the Rain to the 21st century, and have T.J. and Cosmo bond over piano playing? Yes! Feel free to go wild. :-)
I tend to be a One True Character kind of fan, and only chose my favorites in the sign-up, so stories about my chosen characters will make me happy, regardless of their relationship status.
Magic Mike XXL (2015):
Ken is my absolute favorite. I like both Ken/Mike and Ken/Andre as pairings, would even like Ken/OMC, but would also love some gen about Ken. What happens to him after that weekend? What did he feel when Dallas took off? When Mike quit back in the day? Any character study, really, would be appreciated.
Political Animals:
Ah, T.J., such a train wreck, but so enticing anyway. I prefer stories where T.J. is finding health and happiness, so generally post-show stories work best for me. I am into T.J. Hammond/Steve Rogers (MCU) or T.J. Hammond/OMC, but no T.J. Hammond/Sean make-up, please. I didn't like him.
Singin' in the Rain (1952):
I am still (eternally) into a Cosmo/OMC post-movie love story, if you are in the mood for that. Other than that, this is another place where a character study works for me. Does he ever resent Don for his success? Kathy for her place in Don's life? How does his career go in the follow years after the movie? Vaudeville day snapshots would also be great.
