Snowflake Challenge Day 14

Day 14
In your own space, share your love for something fannish: a trope, cliché, kink, motif, theme, format, or fandom.
I'm picking Coffeeshop Stories (AUs or not) this time around. I don't think I have rhapsodized poetically about coffeeshop stories before, but I love them to pieces. I often ask for them in exchanges, because they can be done well in 1,000 words or thereabouts, which makes them a good fall back if someone is stuck on what to do.
I think I like them because they kind of define fluffiness. You can do a gritty, down-on-their-luck coffeeshop story, but it isn't necessary, and even if you do, the coffeeshop aspect is probably a welcoming light in the darkness for your characters. There's just something about a warm coffeeshop in the cold with the smell of coffee and pastries in the air that is so comforting.
Since it seems silly to rhapsodize without some recs, let me add some to entice you to my way of thinking (Since there are 3 recs, it can also qualify as Day 13, I guess, but I will still save the official version for Saturday):
The Petunia's Coffee Stop by
A The Losers Jensen/Cougar (with bonus Pooch/Jolene) graphic that I received in an exchange for a Coffeshop AU prompt. It is adorable, and really captures the essence of the feel of Coffeeshops for me. All warmth, and people connecting.
Summary: In another universe Jacob Jensen serves his stint in the army and then returns to civilian life. Together he and his sister open Petunia's Internet Cafe and Coffee stop. It doesn't take long for a certain cat to become a regular.
Conditional Value at Risk by
A MCU, Clint/Coulson AU that is meatier than normal, and is full of burgeoning attraction and a lot of fun scenes.
Summary: Phil is a financial genius insomniac who runs an all-night coffee shop/bakery. He spends his time not sleeping, arguing with his semi-sentient (he swears) coffee machine, and managing the legendary Coulson stock portfolio. He thinks that's enough - until a gorgeous blue-eyed stranger stumbles into his shop one early Wednesday morning and shakes things up without even trying.
run your fingers through the knots of my soul
A MCU, Bucky/Steve story that is a bit grumpier than my usual fare, but that's what makes it delicious and funny.
Summary: Sometimes Bucky thinks it would be really cute to meet someone in a coffee shop, like in those silly romantic comedies Clint makes him watch. But there is a reason why meet cutes in cafes don’t happen in real life, and it’s because customers suck.
And besides, love fades.
But coffee? Coffee is forever.
--
This is a story about love and life--and coffee, which Bucky would've argued was probably more important than either of the first.
But that was before Steve Rogers came along.
Crema by
A Glee, Blaine/Kurt story. Basically Blaine/Kurt was made for coffeeshop stories. This is an AU, but obviously they don't have to be. It is also a long, involved story, which makes it engrossing. Blaine is so adorable in this story. It really made me happy to read it.
Summary: Kurt’s just landed a job at Vogue as Carrie Bradshaw’s assistant. One of his tasks is to bring her coffee in the morning. Enter Blaine, the barista. This is the story of how they change each other’s lives.
And one self-rec, lest you think I am not inspired by Coffeeshops myself:
Conniving Sisters and Mistletoe
Teen Wolf, Derek/Stiles.
Summary: Coffee shop AU. With the help of some mistletoe, Cora finagles a kiss between her brother Derek and her former classmate Stiles.
